SENIORS NIGHT THIS FRIDAY AT MERCER

When the Hyacks take on Van College at Mercer stadium this Friday, the program will continue its tradition of recognizing our graduating seniors. Included in the list of 20 seniors are nine players who have been with the Hyacks since Jr Bantam including: Harper Sherman, Jonathan Tomalty, Mackenzie Ratcliffe, Nathan Barber, Kale Brock, Dylan Musgrove, Julian Ramirez, Marc Massicotte and Sid Stevens. Other names like Matt Seymour, Make Aplas and Chris Adetola, joined the program in JV. This group of young men has grown together, worked extremely hard, and has helped to build the winning tradition of Hyack Football.

The players and the parent/guardians who have supported them, not just as football players but as students and young men for the past 17 years will also be recognized prior to the game, in what has become a very special tradition in the Hyacks program. Thanks to all of them for their contributions. Parents of the seniors are asked to arrive by 7:15 pm.

This Friday's game will have huge playoff implications for both teams, following the Hyacks 42-14 win at Handsworth last Friday. New West rushed for 423 yards, led by the 132 from Julian Ramirez. Jamie Shiho scored a pair of TDs, while Adrian and Brian Cagampan, Tyrone Morgan and Jordan Guzman also scored.

A complete recap of Friday's game can be found here.

JVs CONTINUE WINNING WAYS

In their first road game of the season the Hyacks defeated Rick Hansen 39-22 last week. Josh Olango and Trew Dancey each scored a pair of TDs, Jonah Shaw scored his first TD as a Hyack, and Ben Tjernagel rounded out the scoring. Olango and Sammy Sidhu eached rushed for over 150 yards, and the JVs improved to 6-0 against BC teams (5-0 in conference play).

The Hyacks return home this Thursday, as they play host to Mission Secondary. Kickoff will be 5:30 pm at Mercer Stadium.

YOUTH FOOTBALL

Jr Bantam:

The JBs avenged their only loss of the season, downing the North Surrey Falcons 14-8. Broxx Comia scored on a 70 yard run with just 30 seconds left in the game. Anekin Gladstone, Nathanael Saenz, Solomon Wayne, Faroqu Ibrahim and Greyson Planinsic played well, in the biggest win to date.

Pee Wee:

The Pee Wees dropped a 16-0 decision last Wednesday to a very good North Delta Longhorns team. A good defensive effort by the Hyacks kept ND to negative net yards rushing. Darius Louis-Charles was player of the game for excellent penetration and disruption from his Nose Tackle position.

Atom:

On Friday night at Mercer Stadium, the Atoms came back from a 26-14 deficit at half time to beat the Coquitlam Lions 50 to 32. The comeback included a goal line stand by the defense, led by Callum Rogers and Greg Palmer followed by a 90 yard run by Jaxson Domville.

FLAG:

The Orange Hyacks tied North Surrey 12-12 on Sunday. Nathan Hillman scored both Hyack TDs, including one on the game's final play. The Hyacks defense was led by Marcus Kelcie, Jeevyn Rattan and Cooper Smith.

MINI-TYKE:

The short season came to an end for all of the mini-tyke teams (below) on Sunday afternoon at Mercer Stadium. Special thanks to all of the parents and coaches for making the season another success. Also a big thank you to our mini-tyke manager, Tandrea Jang for her efforts. She will be contacting the parents this week regarding the wrap up party at Crash Crawley's this Thursday!
