HYACKS LOOK TO REBOUND FRIDAY ON THE NORTH SHORE

Following their first loss of the season in BC, the Hyacks will look to get back on the winning track this Friday when they visit Handsworth Secondary in North Vancouver at 3 pm. Last Friday afternoon at Mercer Stadium, the Hyacks took a 23-21 lead into the 4th quarter against Mt Douglas. But unfortunately they could not close out the three-time defending provincial champions, eventually falling 35-23.

Matt Seymour continued to show that he is one of the best skill position players in the province this season, scoring two more TDs and totaling over 200 all-purpose yards. Julian Ramirez scored the other Hyack TD while Wayne Palmer kicked a 40 yard field goal. Harper Sherman may have played the best game of his career, with a dominant performance along the offensive line. Defensively, Jeff Lugtu recorded 10 tackles, Jorge Yarwood added 6 tackles and a QB sack, while Rochon Battacharya had 5 tackles and an interception. A complete recap of Friday's game can be found here

The Royals come into this weekend's game following a 24-0 win over West Van last Friday. They also defeated the Hyacks 26-23 in last year's regular season finale at Mercer Stadium.

JVs REMAIN UNBEATEN

The JVs improved to 5-0 against BC teams (4-0 in conference play) following a 34-21 win over previously unbeaten GW Graham last Thursday. Sammy Sidhu scored a pair of first half TDs, while Trew Dancey, Lucas Sabau and Ben Tjernagel also scored for the Hyacks.

Hyack will play their first road game of the season this week, as they travel to Abbotsford on Wednesday for a game with Rick Hansen Secondary. Kickoff will be 3:30 pm.

YOUTH FOOTBALL

Jr Bantam:

On Sunday the Hyacks JB team was battling for first place against a strong North Delta Longhorns team. The game was a seesaw battle which ended 24-24. Arjun Bal was a work-horse on offense running for well over 150 yards and 2 TDs. Shaye Rathjen led the Hyacks in tackles along with other strong showings by Kinsale Phillip, Ethan Shuen and Mayen Gor.

Pee Wee:

The Peewees played to a big crowd of supporters last Friday under the lights of Mercer Stadium but were unable to defeat the North Surrey Cardinals. On defense, Willem Barnard made many critical tackles with linemen Mike Jenvey and Adrian Smith controlling the middle all game long.

Atom:

The Atom's defeated the Richmond Raiders 34-6 on Sunday, thanks in large part to standout tackles on defense from Alexander Pomoranov and Phillip Smith. The offence was also firing on all cylinders with Dennis Glavas and Jaxson Dominville with a number of long runs, along with Callum Rodgers first TD of the year.

FLAG:

The Orange Hyacks lost to a very strong Westside Warriors team on Sunday. Lukas Lalji scored the lone Hyacks TD with an exciting run down the sidelines off a reverse, with Nathan Hillman adding the 2 point convert. The Hyacks defense kept the Westside running game in check, with lots of flags from Ethan Duffy, Alex Dall and Lado John.
