 TEXAS 2014 - A TRIP OF A LIFETIME

It was 8 months in the planning, but worth every minute. Seventy members of the Hyack Football program made their way to Texas last week for 7 days of fun, football and memories. The trip included: watching the Florida State vs Oklahoma State college football game at AT&T Stadium, visiting Beaumont Ranch, the Fort Torth Stock Yards, the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza and Six Flags. And of course there were a pair of football games to play! The players were very well-behaved and represented our community well.

VARSITY:

Matt Seymour scored on the opening play of the game, but ultimately the Hyacks would lose to Grandview HS, one of the top programs in the state of Texas. The defensive line and linebackers played very well, including Jorge Yarwood, Ebraheim Farroghi, Jeff Lugtu, Marel Wang and Jonathan Tomalty. Julian Ramirez also added a 42 yard run and kicker Wayne Palmer connected on a pair of field goals (35 & 39 yards).

JVs:

The JVs held a 16-12 halftime lead, before eventually losing 20-16. Sammy Sidhu scored both Hyack TDs and added a 2 point convert. Trew Dancey and Connor Pattison each had long runs to set up the scores and both also stood out defensively. Lucas Sabau made his first start at QB and showed plenty of poise.

Thanks to all of the coaches, parents and support staff who made this trip a great success. A complete wrap up of the game can be found here.

JVs TO OPEN SEASON AT MERCER ON THURSDAY

A scheduling change will allow the Hyack JVs to open the season at home tomorrow night. Pitt Meadowns visits Mercer Stadium for a 5:30 pm kickoff. The Hyacks are looking for a great effort from the play of their o-line, led by Josh Olango, Isaiah James and Yanni Angelopolous. The coaching staff is also looking to see a number of newcomers playing in their first games, including Ben Tjernagel and Alan Darby.

Fans are asked to check the website and look for updates to the JV schedule which may see a few more changes during the early part of the season.

YOUTH FOOTBALL SEASON IS UNDERWAY

Jr Bantam:

Royal city hyacks junior batam team kicked off the season opener with a thumping of Langley 55-0. Hyacks defence allowed only 1 first down on the day with strong showings by Dario Cade and Ian Martin . Zack Northgraves was 6 for 7 on his extra points

Pee Wee:

Royal City followed up its strong showing in the pre-season tournaments with a 26-0 win over the Langley Cowboys on Friday night at Mercer Stadium. The defense had a nearly perfect game allowing Langley only 2 first-downs. Jordan Freeland was a force on both sides of the ball with several tackles and a TD. Nikolas Dukic also played well with stops on defense and a stand-up TD on offense.
