SHERMAN AND SEYMOUR RANKED AMONG TOP PLAYERS IN CANADA
The honors continue to come in for Harper Sherman and now he is not alone, as Matt Seymour (DB/WR) is one of the Nation's top recruits for 2015.
Harper recently picked up his 8th full scholarship offer from an NCAA Div 1 school, the most early offers ever for a player in BC. In the most recent CFC Top 100 players, Harper is the #1 ranked offensive lineman in Canada and the top ranked player in BC.
Matt is 35th ranked player overall in Canada, the 4th ranked defensive back, and 4th ranked player in BC. He has been recruited by most of the top universities in Canada and a few in the US. A complete list of the rankings can be found here

JUNE RESULTS ENCOURAGING
Both NWSS teams turned in strong performances at the recent MVP Team Camp and the earlier in the month at spring camp. Over 85 players took part and improved throughout the sessions. In addition, the attendance and effort during the summer conditioning SHARP workouts has been very good and has the coaches optimistic about the fall season.
This could be the best defense the Hyacks have fielded in the past five seasons, thanks in large part to the play of linebackers Jeff Lugtu and Marcel Wang, along with Matt Seymour in the secondary. Lugtu was a camp All-star at the MVP Team Camp. Newcomers Ebrahiem Farroghi, Jorge Yarwood & Hakan Williams have added great physicality to the front seven.
Offensively, running backs Julian Ramirez and David Penalver have run very well, with offensive linemen Harper Sherman, Jonathan Tomalty and Mike Aplas leading the way up front.
Size and depth up front have been the most encouraging signs for this year's JVs. A whopping 12 players tip the scales at over 200 lbs, led by Josh Olango and freshman Isaiah James and Yanni Angelopolis. Trew Dancey, Connor Pattison and Sammy Sidhu have stood out in the backfield and newcomer Ben Tjernagel has picked the game up very well at receiver.
Thanks to all of the volunteers who helped make the 3rd annual MVP Hyack Football Team Camp a success. A complete wrap up can be found here.
For the rest of July and August, SHARP workouts will be held on the field at Mercer Stadium on Mondays and Thursdays (12 noon to 1:30 pm). There will also be a group workout on Wednesdays at Canada Games Pool (12 noon to 1:30 pm) for a cost of $3.
Fall camp begins on Sunday, Aug 17th with speed and fitness testing. The first practice is Aug 18th. Fall camp is mandatory and we expect that all players will be back from vacation and rearrange their work schedules in time to take part. The complete summer schedule can be found here.
CHIN AND HUSBAND - BACK IN ORANGE!
How many high schools have TWO of their graduates currently playing for the BC Lions? Only one, NWSS! The entire Hyack Football family is thrilled to see two of our own, Casey Chin and Cody Husband, playing for the home team in the CFL.
Casey was selected by BC in the 3rd round of the 2014 CFL draft, after a brilliant career at SFU. Cody meanwhile, signed with BC as a free agent, after spending the previous 3 seasons with the Hamilton Ti-Cats.
|On July 25th the Lions will play host to Winnipeg and we have the opportunity to sell tickets to that game, with a portion of the proceeds going to support Hyack Football. To purchase tickets go here. When purchasing, please use the promotion code: "hyacks"
