JV'S TO PLAY FOR LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP ON THURSDAY

The JV Hyacks clinched a playoff berth last week with a 35-6 win at Hugh Boyd. The win improved New West to 6-1 (3-0 in conference play). Adrian Cagampan scored a pair of TDs, while Brian Cagampan, and Jordan Guzman also scored rushing TDs.   Nick Hauka found
David Penalver for the other Hyack major. Special recognition goes to the outstanding play of the offensive line of  James Cunningham, Dillon Cusker, Connor Pattison, Sabastien Ramirez and

HYACKS LOOK TO CLINCH PLAYOFF BERTH AT HOME

After a productive bye week, the Hyacks will return to Mercer for their final two home games of the regular season, beginning with this Friday's game against Notre Dame at 7:30 pm.

The Hyacks come into the game with a 5-2 overall mark (2-2 in conference play), and an honorable mention position in the provincial AAA top-five rankings. The Jugglers meanwhile are riding the momentum of their first win of the season, 28-0 over West Van.

New West will be looking for big things from their defensive line this week; Billy Collins, Bogdan Pavel, Kayne Phillips, Luis Rosas and Harper Sherman are among those in that group, and are hoping to extend the Hyacks perfect 4-0 record at home this season.

This Friday's game also marks the debut of the NWSS Hyacks Cheer Team. Close to 50 girls have turned out for Cheer and it should add plenty to the atmosphere of Friday Night Football at Mercer.

YOUTH FOOTBALL UPDATE

Jr Bantam

The Black team clinched a playoff berth with a 19-18 win over the GSL Seahawks at Mercer Stadium on Sunday. Will (BJ) Clarke scored all 3 TDs for the Hyacks. Justice Champagne led a very physical offensive line, while Markus Matos stood out on defense, making a key sack late in the game.

Peewee

The peewee Hyacks teams faced off in the 2013 edition of The Civil War, with the Black squad prevailing 28-6 over Orange. The game, which was very close at 8-6 until midway through the fourth quarter, featured outstanding performances by Phillip Marin, Darius Wong, Aidan Sattler and John-Paul Canil. Kudos to all of the players and coaches for a hard-fought clean game played in legend-creating fog.

Atom

The Atom Hyacks have clinched a playoff spot despite falling 6-0 to the visiting Coquitlam Tigers on Sunday. Dyson Glavas had some huge blocks for the Hyacks, whose recent strong performances against the top two teams bode well for the remaining two games of the regular season.

Tyke

Jack Nyang continues to impress, and Kieran Venkataya made several outstanding open-field plays for the Tyke Hyacks, who lost a close game against the North Delta Longhorns 11-4.
