There will be a live DJ, a Bar-be-cue, professional athletes on-site to sign autographs, along with activities for the whole family. The game itself kicks off at 7:30 as the Hyacks will take on Centennial Secondary.

HYACKS WIN AT SEQUIM

The Hyacks improved to 2-0 with a 35-20 win at Sequim HS in Washington. Tommy Robertson got the Hyacks on the scoreboard with a 35 yard scoring pass to Stewart Sommerfeld. Robertson also rushed for a pair of TDs. Angelo Tanjuaquio also scored twice and had over 120 all-purpose yards. Julian Ramirez was a force for the visitors, with 151 yards, 132 of which came in the 2nd half. As a team the Hyacks racked up over 400 yards of offense, behind the fantastic play of the offensive line.

Ramirez and Jeremy Stewart led the Hyacks with 6 tackles apiece, with Stewart also breaking up 4 passes. Bogdan Pavel (4 tackles, 2 sacks) and James Nicolas: (4 tackles, incl 3 for loss) were others who stood out defensively. This was New West's first win over a US school since 2009, as Sequim had won 7 of the last 9 Olympic League titles. The complete game story can be found here:

MAYORS 'ALL IN' FOR HOMECOMING GAME CHALLENGE

Both these mayors are former players who gave it their all on the gridiron before jumping to the big league of B.C. politics. Now Wayne Wright and Richard Stewart are willing to give the jerseys off their backs to support their high school football teams.

New Westminster's Wright challenged his Coquitlam counterpart Stewart to a friendly wager on the outcome of the annual Hyacks Football Homecoming Game on September 13, when the Hyacks will square off against the Centennial Centaurs. The mayor whose team loses the game has to wear the winner's jersey at their next council meeting.

Stewart agreed and both mayors will be at Mercer Stadium cheering their squads on. They even agreed to model their football fashion in advance. In fact, both seem reluctant to take their team colours off.

"Maybe we should suit up for the game in case they need a play brought in from the sidelines," said Stewart.
