The Rev. Kim Uchimura to Join Hyde Park in July

Hyde Park United Methodist will welcome the Rev. Kim Uchimura as its new Associate Pastor in July, the congregation learned during worship services Sunday. The Rev. Kim Uchimura will come to Hyde Park from serving as pastor of First United Methodist Church of Mount Dora, and has previously served two churches in Brandon. The worship announcements also celebrated that all of Hyde Park's clergy have been reappointed in their current roles for the next year. Learn more.
Mid-Week Message Outlines New Roles for Church Staff

The Rev. Magrey deVega, senior pastor, announced some new roles for current staff and an Executive Pastor role for newly appointed Kim Uchimura in a special Mid-Week Message Monday. Among the new roles into which staffers have moved or will be transitioning in coming months are Worship Coordinator, Church Business Administrator, and Director of Children's Ministries.  Read more.
VBS Registration Now Open
 
Registration for Vacation Bible School, June 27-July 1, is now open. Children aged 4 (by 6/1/2015) through rising 6th grade are invited to Cave Quest, where they will learn about following Jesus, the light of the world. Sign up now.
2016 Kids Camp and Mission Fund
 
For over 30 years, Hyde Park United Methodist has held an annual fundraiser to help send children with financial needs to church camps, mission trips, or vacation bible school. Donations to the 2016 Kids Camp and Mission Fund are now being accepted. Learn more or donate now
Endowment Fund Committee Issues Annual Report

Hyde Park's $2.5 million Permanent Endowment Fund provided $69,820 in grants during 2015 to fund scholarships, support church ministries and make improvements to church property.  These highlights and more are in the 2016 Annual Report produced by the Permanent Endowment Fund Committee, and distributed last week in monthly giving statements. Purchase a Manna Bag filled with ready-to-eat food, socks and Scriptures of encouragement this Sunday. Bags are $5 and will be sold in the Courtyard and Magnolia Patio. Learn more
Small Blessings Summer Camp

Our preschool, Small Blessings, will be offering summer camp  for children two to six years old.  There will be three two-week sessions that will meet Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings for six weeks between June 14 and August 4. Grief Support Group to Begin April 28

Anyone struggling with grief is welcome to join a grief support group which will meet at 6:30 p.m. beginning April 28 in Knox Hall 156. Sharing in a safe place with a group can bring healing and hope in the midst of your grief. Learn more or register.

'For the Love of This City' Mural Project 
 
Two local artists, Tony Krol and Michelle Sawyer (pictured), have begun transforming the blank south wall of Branscomb Hall downtown at The Portico into a colorful and unique work of art they've named "For Love of This City." Learn more
Donations to Equip The Portico Café 
 
A delivery truck on Monday dropped off donated kitchen equipment to be used in the construction of The Portico Café at Hyde Park's downtown campus, 1001 N. Florida Ave. The vision for the The Portico Café is to create a place where passions for coffee and people meet, and every cup of coffee sold benefits the most vulnerable in our city. Read more.

Deliver Comfort and Care with Love Meals

Disaster Relief Opportunities in Pasco County

The Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church is leading a recovery effort in southwest Pasco County from a severe flood and rain event in July and August of 2015. Beginning in April, teams will begin assisting with home repairs.  Learn more.
