Have you ever seen that mom that can turn on the tears in an instant to get her teenager to do what she wants them to do, or that dad who has a certain look that brings no argument whatsoever? Did you have a parent that was able to elicit the desired response from you whether you agreed or not? Are you a parent that can be manipulative or coercive with your teen? Click here to read more.

Aw, Nuts! Teaser
Aw, Nuts! Teaser

There's an old saying that goes a little something like this, "don't cut off your nose to spite your face." That saying is very applicable to the topic I am discussing today. During times of stress, we sometimes say things we don't mean. We say them impulsively, to shield ourselves from the truth or what may come because of how we really feel. Sometimes these things we say can come out hurtful, even though we don't mean it. That's the time when you need to think before you speak, take time to decide what would be most appropriate. In certain situations, it is better to not say anything at all, take time to think and pray, then discuss later.

Middle School Sunday School, Sunday, 9:30 a.m.
Join us this week and take a deeper look into Scripture through the Skit Guys. We meet every Sunday morning with the exception of holiday weekends and the first Sunday of the month when students experience corporate worship and communion with the church body.

Merge, Sunday, 5:30 p.m.
Everyone dreams about what they want to be when they grow up. Maybe you want to be a doctor, an artist or an engineer. Maybe you want to be known for being a great athlete or a great speaker. Whatever it is, chances are you want to become someone or do something that you feel is important, something that matters.  You work toward becoming whatever that is. Jesus met a man who had already met his goal. He was rich. He was powerful. He was well known and important. But surprisingly, Jesus said he still lacked something. This young man had achieved everything that he thought mattered, but through his story we find that God wants more for us than just achievement or fame. He wants us to pursue him first. Remember to invite a friend and you both get a NEW 2015 gift! Also, bring $5 for dinner in the Harnish Activities Center.

Confirmation, Sunday, 5:30-8 p.m.
This week, we will discuss how we are Made New in Christ. Remember to join us for dinner at 5:15 p.m. in the Harnish Activities Center before classes start at 6 p.m. on the 3rd floor of the Wesley building.

Middle School Wednesday Night Bible Study, 6:30 p.m.
The Bible is intimidating - no doubt about it. It's so big, so wordy, and hard to understand, but what if we told you that there was a way to read the Bible that would make it easy? Good news! There is an easy and fun way to read and understand the Bible, and it's called "The Amazing Bible Race." This race will be your chance to get into Scripture, earn points for your team with fun activities, and be encouraged as you learn and grow in your faith. Each student will need to purchase a Runner's Reader for $6, which will help you remember what the reading of the day is, as well as provide you with commentary to help you understand what you're reading. Come ready to race this Wednesday in the Magnolia Building. See you there!
