Bishop Carter Appoints Magrey deVega to be New Senior Pastor in July, 2015
Florida Conference Bishop Kenneth Carter has announced that he will appoint the Rev. Magrey deVega as Hyde Park's new Senior Pastor, effective July 1, 2015. Having served as Hyde Park's Associate Pastor from 2000 to 2007, the Rev. deVega told the Hyde Park congregation via video greeting, "I'm coming home." Read more here.
Giving Matters: Financial Pledges - Off the Bench, Into the Game
In this month's Giving Matters, Finance Committee Chair Karen Crawford reminds those who have not yet submitted pledges for 2015 to to "get off the bench and get in the game." Read the message here. Staff News: Sherlyn Burnham-Kuehn on Maternity Leave
Contemporary Music Director, Sherlyn Burnham-Kuehn, will go on maternity leave this week through March, with the upcoming birth of her second child. During this time, the Joyful Praise team will be led by Brent Walker, with Amy Isel providing administrative support. Best wishes to Sherlyn, husband Henry, and big sister Lili on their growing family!

Gasparilla Parade Jan. 31, PrimeTimers Parking Fundraiser
Gasparilla Parade Day is approaching and the senior adult ministry, the PrimeTimers, will be parking cars for the parade Saturday, Jan. 31. Sign up in the Courtyard this Sunday Jan. 25 to help direct traffic and collect money for this fundraiser, or contact Jack Brown.

Our Downtown Team, congregation, and community are growing in awareness and appreciation of The Portico, 1001 N Florida Ave. The Portico, our downtown campus, now hosts regular small groups offering support and community, monthly documentary viewings and discussions, meditation services at 12:15 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday and monthly Third Thursday meditation services, as well as special events. Loneliness and Depression Support: Friends Helping Friends, Jan. 29
Sometimes we need another person to listen to us or need ideas on how to deal with struggles. In a safe setting, this small group will discuss valuable information and receive support from others who are struggling, or have struggled, with depression and loneliness. 6:30-8 p.m. Thursdays beginning Jan. 29 for eight weeks. Picture Bible Class for Parents beginning Feb. 1
Parents of 2 and 3-year olds are invited to join other parents for a 3-week class at 9:30 a.m. beginning Feb. 1. Parents will explore practical steps for sharing their faith with their young children. After the 3-week session, parents will present their children with a new Picture Bible in worship.
