Walking with you,

Director of Youth Ministry

Being a child of a divorced family, I can sympathize with the hardships that the children experience. However, this story is not mine, it is one someone kindly shared with me. Late Wednesday night, a close friend of mine was sat down by her parents, and told they were getting a divorce. Thoughts of confusion, sadness and betrayal floated through her mind. After living 16 years with her parents married, now they want to separate? She didn't understand how this had happened. Confused and upset; she ran away from home. As she floated from house to house for three days, her parents were terrified as to her whereabouts. At the last house she stayed, the parents called hers. They were told where she was, and the next morning, her parents showed up. She was furious. How could her friend's parents betray her trust? She began to scream and fall apart until she sunk to the floor, her parents wrapping their arms around her. They whispered "I love you's" and "I'm sorry's" and just sat there and held her tight. Although she swore she would never go home, as angry as she felt, God put his strength into her so she could return home and cope.
