Walking this journey with you,
Emily Felgenhauer

Sports are a competitive matter. The point is to win, and athletes have the unfortunate habit of getting upset when they lose. Being a coxswain on the crew team, I deal with the every day harshness of competitive rowing. Our last race on Saturday, The Halloween Regatta, I observed two girls racing against each other in their boats. It was a tight race, and one pulled in front the last minute. You could see on the other's face the misery she felt; the let down. As the winner looked over at her off the water, the smile on her face began to fade as she walked over, and put her hand on the girl's back, pulling her into a hug. She congratulated her on such an amazing race and awarded her lots of compliments, walking with her back to the rower's tent. God was using the winner to show his love through her. He wanted happiness to be reached out to all, even though she did not win the race.

Middle and High School Merge, Sunday, 5:15-8 p.m.

Have you ever said God's name when you were angry or rattled off "OMG"? If so, you may have heard someone talk about you breaking one of the Ten-the one about misusing God's name. But there's much more to this commandment. Just think about it, do you think that's all God was concerned about? Do you think that was the only reason he put it on such an important list? The reality is that we abuse God's name when we choose to use it for our own selfish purposes-and that's a dangerous game that involves more than just a careless slip of the tongue. If we dodge the will of God in the name of God, then we run the risk of missing God entirely. We look forward to seeing you as we talk about this more. Dinner starts at 5:15 p.m. and programming at 6 p.m. Invite a friend and you both get a blue Merge tumbler.
