MEET OUR SUMMER INTERNS

Middle School Intern: Ashley Cozart
I'm extremely blessed and overjoyed to be the new Summer Intern for the Middle School Youth Group at Hyde Park United Methodist Church. After growing up attending this youth group, I'm very passionate about its growth. The staff and members helped form an unwavering foundation for my faith, allowing me to lead a knowledgeable Christ-filled life.

I believe that God is leading me to help the current youth form an equal passion for him just as the staff did for me. Through forming meaningful relationships, trusting God, and setting a good example, I intend to do just that. I'm honored to join the Hyde Park United Methodist staff, and cannot wait to start my journey as a Youth Intern.

High School Intern: Mason Herges
Hello students and members of Hyde Park United Methodist! My name is Mason Herges, and I've been extremely blessed by the opportunity to serve as your High School Youth Intern this summer! I am 19, an Eagle Scout, and currently a college sophomore, having graduated from Bloomingdale High school in 2013.

I really think God has a calling for me to serve in some sort of ministry, so this is going to be an amazing opportunity to help reveal some of God's plan for my life, and I couldn't be happier about it. I'm extremely excited to work and serve with you this summer, and I can't wait to meet everyone!
 NewsNEWS AND EVENTS
VBS is coming - We need youth volunteers!

Metropolitan Ministries Urban Experience (July 14-17)
Are you looking for an exciting way to get your group involved in short-term missions? Metropolitan Ministries' Urban Immersion initiative provides groups of all types, sizes, and ages a unique opportunity to be immersed in an urban environment. The group will be exposed to true homelessness and poverty while learning ways to help individually, as a church, or a corporation here in Tampa Bay as well as your own community.

Your experience includes:
  • Face-to-face ministry with homeless and at-risk clients
  • Serving off-campus with local partners
  • Evening service opportunities
  • Praying for families in need
Students will be able to go home at night and return to church in the morning to have a full day of service within our community. This mission week will take the place of our usual "Thursday Serve Day" during the summer. These four days will be trips back and forth to Met Min. We will have daily drop off and pick up times at the Magnolia Building. Students will stay the night at their own homes. We want to encourage students to participate in the whole 4 day experience.

If your student can't attend a day or two, we are not able to subsidize the cost. Please let us know in advance if your student is not able to participate on a specific day, otherwise we will assume your student will be a part of the full 4 day experience.

Pricing for 4 days (no overnight): $85 per student. Click here to sign up.

Middle School - 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, Magnolia Building

This week our theme is "Fight for the Relationship." Nick will give the message on how most fights come down to one thing: Perspective. Often what we want for ourselves isn't what our parents want for us and this can cause some serious tension. So what do we do when we can't see eye-to-eye with them? The Bible reminds us that the way we handle our parents when we aren't getting what we want has to do with more than just our relationship with them; it's a reflection of our relationship with God. When we turn our hearts toward our parents, we find ourselves moving closer to God as well. Please remember when you invite your friends, you both get a Merge tumbler. Bring $5 for dinner in the Activities Center beforehand!

High School - 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Magnolia Building

This week our theme is "Fight for the Acceptance." Jesus had some powerful things to say about how we relate to our enemies. And sometimes it feels like our greatest enemies are the ones who live under our own roof. While sibling rivalry may feel like a 24/7 challenge to you now, some day the relationships with your brothers and sisters may be the most important ones in your life. So how do you get there? How do you make the move to fight for those future relationships? Come find out and bring a friend! Don't forget $5 for dinner too!
