 EmilyEMILY'S MESSAGE

Please join us 6-7 p.m. Sunday in the Magnolia Building for information regarding our summer schedule. We are excited about some positive changes and want our parents to have all the information they need to help partner with us as we support our youth. This will be a night to get information and ask questions.

Dave Jans, our new Assistant Youth Director, will be here that night as well to meet the parents and students. We do hope you can come and hear all of the great additions we are doing to our youth ministry.

Summer Camp Fundraiser and Brunch: 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Sunday, Activities Center
The Summer Camp Fund was started more than 20 years ago to allow inner city children to experience summer camp at the Warren Willis Methodist Camp in Leesburg. Through the years this fund has sent kids to camp from our congregation, our tutoring ministry and the Haitian community. This year we are partnering with Metropolitan Ministries to send nine children to summer camp and eight youth to the New Orleans mission trip.

The Summer Camp Fund is not part of our Ministry and Missions Fund. The Summer Camp Fund is able to help children solely through your donations. Donations can be made by check to Hyde Park United Methodist, designate "Camp Fund." You can also make a donation online using this form.

There are other ways that you can help with the Summer Camp Brunch. Sign up for food donations or various tasks online using this form or email Pat Kelly.

Metropolitan Ministries Urban Experience (July 14-17)
Are you looking for an exciting way to get your group involved in short-term missions? Metropolitan Ministries' Urban Immersion initiative provides groups of all types, sizes, and ages a unique opportunity to be immersed in an urban environment. Your group will be exposed to true homelessness and poverty while learning ways to help individually, as a church, or a corporation here in Tampa Bay as well as your own community.

Your experience includes:
  • Face-to-face ministry with homeless and at-risk clients
  • Serving off-campus with local partners
  • Evening service opportunities
  • Praying for families in need
Students will be able to go home at night and return to church in the morning to have a full day of service within our community. This mission week will take the place of our usual "Thursday Serve Day" during the summer. These four days will be trips back and forth to Met Min. We will have daily drop off and pick up times at the Magnolia Building. Students will stay the night at their own homes. We want to encourage students to participate in the whole 4 day experience.

If your student can't attend a day or two we are not able to subsidize the cost. Please let us know in advance if your student is not able to participate in a specific day, otherwise we will assume your student will be a part of the full 4 day experience.

Pricing for 4 days (no overnight): $85 per student. Click here to sign up.

mergeMERGE

Middle School - 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, Magnolia Building

This Wednesday we are taking our middle school Merge students to our Downtown Campus "Portico" to get a tour of the campus and also to help serve and clean up the grounds while we are there. We are meeting at the Magnolia Building and will be returning to the magnolia building. Every student needs to have a health form on file or bring one in as well as a permission form. (Both forms are attached, please link them to specific words) If students come without one or both in hand parents will be called to pick their students back up.

High School - 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Magnolia Building

No family is perfect. We all know it. And sometimes we think that if we could just escape our family, everything would be great. But we can't change our parents, and we can't escape them. What we can do is change the relationship we have with them. The book of Ephesians gives us some insight into just how to do this, and it may not be what you might expect. So what can you do to be the fighter in your family? Please remember to invite your friends and you both get a merge tumbler. Bring $5 for dinner too!

NatalieNATALIE'S CORNER
As the end of the school year approaches, I'm remembering to keep God in mind. The end of the year can be so busy and God can help you out with all the stuff you are worrying about. The summer is often even more busy than the school year, and most people will say they need a "break from church." Youth group goes on all summer still though, so I'm going to make the effort to come weekly and remember that God never takes a break from us, so why should we take one from him. That's how I'm remembering to make God's love real.
