Jazz Ensemble
To round out this year's season, the Jazz Ensemble will present music featuring student vocalists. They will be singing from the Sinatra and Bubl� songbooks.

Faculty Jazz Combo
The IPFW Faculty Jazz Combo is a unique collective of musicians who bring their own style and a wealth of experience to the group as soloists, band leaders, and composers. Dr. Ken Johnson, guitar; Jim Steele, piano; Dr. Farrell Vernon, saxophones; Brad Kuhns, bass; and Eric Schweikert, drums, make up this exciting faculty combo. These IPFW professors create original works and arrangements of jazz and pop standards for each concert.

Opera Ensemble presents...
Gianni Schicchi
When Giacomo Puccini's comic opera Gianni Schicchi premiered at New York's Metropolitan Opera in December 1918 it became an immediate hit. Based on a passage mentioned in Dante's Inferno, Puccini wrote a farcical opera referencing one of Dante's demons, delighting audiences for nearly a century. The opera ensemble will perform this comic masterpiece in English.

Masterclasses at IPFW

Guest Artist Masterclass with Michael Ludwig, violin
The world-renowned violinist Michael Ludwig will conduct a masterclass with selected IPFW music majors the day before his performance with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic. Violinists of all skill levels are invited to observe the masterclass free of charge. Ludwig will be performing the Sibelius Violin Concerto with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic on Saturday, Apr. 9, at 7:30 p.m. in the Rhinehart Music Center.

For a decade Guylenn Delassus was lead vocalist for the most important big band in the history of French jazz, the Claude Bolling Big Band. She became known in France by returning in competition for eleven weeks on a nationally televised talent show. She was then picked up by Paris cabarets and supper clubs. She has performed with some of the most celebrated American jazz musicians, too. She performed with Dizzy Gillespie in Paris, and later on tour with the Jon Hendricks at the Twin Towers in New York City.
