Indiana University - Purdue University Fort Wayne is proud to offer two exciting events for young pianists: the IPFW Gene Marcus Piano Competition, for pianists ages 18 and under living within 100 miles of Fort Wayne, and the IPFW Gene Marcus Piano Camp and Festival, for pianists ages 12-18 coming from anywhere. IPFW Rhinehart Music CenterIndiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne is a Carnegie Community Engaged University that awards Indiana University bachelor's degrees in music. The piano competition and camp will be held in the Rhinehart Music Center, a facility built in 2007 to serve the university and community. It provides an ideal learning environment, including excellent rehearsal spaces, studios and performance halls. Ample practice facilities are available, including a number of rooms with grand pianos.

IPFW Gene Marcus Piano Competition

For Young Pianists Up to Age 18 Within 100 Miles of Fort Wayne
  • Four age divisions: 9 and under, 10-12, 13-15 and 16-18
  • Substantial cash prizes and camp scholarships
  • Winners recital to be broadcast on northeast Indiana's public television station, PBS39
  • Senior division winners also may receive an IPFW Department of Music scholarship
Application postmark deadline: Saturday, December 19, 2015
First-round live auditions*: Saturday and Sunday, January 9 and 10, 2016
Finals: Saturday, January 30, 2016

IPFW Gene Marcus Piano Camp and Festival
For Young Pianists Ages 12-18 Residing Anywhere in the US or Abroad
Open to piano students with at least two years of prior piano study who are interested in improving their playing and performance.
  • Workshops, master classes, Alexander technique and keyboard musicianship
  • Individual and group lessons, ensemble and guided practice sessions
  • Daily recitals by guest artists and faculty, as well as camp participants
  • Residential and commuter options
  • Camp scholarships for 2016 are available

Camp begins Sunday, June 12, and runs through Friday, June 17, 2016.

 

Registration deadline: Thursday, May 27, 2016, or until filled
Priority scholarship deadline: Friday, May 6, 2016 (early applications are encouraged for those applying for scholarship funds)
