    Social Media Marketing for C- Store Retailers 

     

    Getting to know your customers is one of the most valuable decisions a business owner can make.  Thanks to the Internet, retailers have more tools than ever to connect with their customers and their network of relationships. Facebook, Twitter, and FourSquare are just a few of the networking sites available to help boost your business with the touch of a button.   Facebook is the leader in social media and most will agree that it provides an ideal platform for businesses to start attracting and engaging their current and potential customers and is a great first step in social media marketing.

     

    The statistics are overwhelming. According to Facebook at the end of December 2011 there were over 845 million monthly active users and 483 million daily active users on average. 425 million monthly active users used Facebook mobile products.  (Keep in mind, the mobile wallet is coming!) In fact, Nielsen research reports that Facebook is the second most visited website after Google and that users spend more time on Facebook than any other site! No wonder Facebook is the most popular site for marketing and connecting with consumers.

     

    Simply start by setting up an account. A Fan page is an essential marketing tool, so be sure to make that a priority. There is a lot of help on the web to assist new users with building a strategy and plan for maximizing results, so don't loose confidence.  Ask yourself "How will I make my Fan page a place that people will want to visit regularly?" Consider holding promotions exclusively for your Facebook Fans, or run contests for reaching fan milestones.  There are many ways to capture the audience - just be creative!
     
    The sooner you start marketing on Facebook, the better you will become and the faster you will see the impact it will have on your business.  Even if you don't have a website, a Facebook Fan page is a must for every C-store operator.

    Thieves Stealing Your Fuel? 
    CrookAs the dealer reviewed the  24-hour surveillance video and once again, watched as thieves steal hundreds of gallons of fuel from him, he was determined more than ever to catch the crooks!
     
    The dealer took a different approach and had a simple ADT monitoring system installed on his pumps.  Sure enough, when the thieves came back for more, the alarm quickly notified the dealer and the authorities and the thieves were caught in the act! 
     
    It's unknown how long these criminals had  been stealing fuel, but it appears as though they've finally run out of gas.

     April 14, 1865booth

    After failing as an oilman in the booming Pennsylvania oil fields, John Wilkes Booth assassinates President Abraham Lincoln.

     

    Just the year prior, Booth purchased a 3.5-acre lease on the Fuller farm and his "Dramatic Oil Company" was formed.

     

    Booth's Wilhelmina No. 1 well found oil all right,  but unfortunately, the borehole collapsed when Booth and his partners got a little too determined to increase production and used a little too much dynamite. Instead of increasing production, the blast ruined the hole and the well and well...Booth's "oil days" were over.
