2015 Achievements
It has been a busy year for Built Green! Let's take a look at what we've been able to achieve together:

Video about the first Emerald Star home in Seattle
We're looking forward to next year!

zHome Media Coverage
We're pleased to announce that we have published a white paper detailing zHome's post-occupancy results, which demonstrate that zHome was indeed the nation's first net zero energy townhome complex! Usually, homes are discussed as being net zero based on models, but we have the data to prove that zHome is in fact producing slightly more solar energy than energy it consumes from the grid! In addition, zHomes are roughly 70% more efficient with water use than the average home. This is all very exciting, since zHome demonstrates that deep green living can be accessible and comfortable.
Stay tuned for more zHome media coverage!

Due Date for Multi-Family and Community Projects Without Third-Party Verification
This is a final reminder that enrolled 3-Star Multi-Family and Community projects that are not receiving third-party verification have until December 31, 2015 for final project submittal. Once this deadline has passed, certifications for all project types at all star levels will require third-party verification. The move to third-party verification at all levels has been a longtime goal of Built Green and will ensure program credibility and greater brand integrity. Please contact us if you have any questions about this transition.
Update: WaterSense New Homes Incentive Program
The WaterSense New Homes Incentive Program that Built Green is offering in conjunction with Cascade Water Alliance still has rebates available, but move quickly! For more information on the incentive, and to see how you may be able to receive a rebate for building sustainable in Cascade's water service territory, click here. Only 50 rebates will be offered this year and there are just a few left. A builder may claim up to ten. Don't miss your chance!

Sustainable Cities Roundtable: Deconstruct This!
December 10, Shoreline City Hall, Shoreline
Construction is booming in our region, and with it, construction material! In 2014 alone, 500,000 tons of construction materials were generated at jobsites in Seattle. Repurposing and recycling these materials creates jobs, keeps valuable resources out of the landfill, and helps avoid greenhouse gas emissions. This roundtable will explore the opportunities around C&D material salvage and recycling. Kinley Deller of King County will talk about the development of their C&D recycling ordinance, and Kathleen Petrie and Gabriella Uhlar-Heffner from the City of Seattle will share lessons learned from the city's ordinance from both a building and waste perspective. Noel Stout of Dedicated Deconstruction, a salvage and deconstruction firm in Seattle, will also talk about the benefits of building disassembly in order to recover items for use in new projects or remanufacture.

No classes through the end of December. Enjoy the holiday season!
