November saw some changes for the Emporia Farmers Market. First,
we moved back downtown to our original indoor market location at 701 Commercial. From the looks of things, our shoppers had no problem finding us. We packed the room with 20 vendors, the largest turnout for a November that we have ever had, and we had so much produce!
When we started our first season of indoor markets in 2010, the hope was that we could encourage vendors to extend the growing season. Each year we've had a little bit more and it's looking like this year is going to be the biggest yet. We don't know what the winter will bring, but we have high hopes that it will be filled with green! If you didn't see the article by Kerri Jackson in the Emporia Gazette, take a look! It features three of our high tunnel vendors.
For the month of December, we are EXPANDING the market. Vendors will be in two locations -- at either end of the 700 block of Commercial. You will likely recognize most of the faces at 701 Commercial. We expect to be filled again with all our delicious edibles. Please take a moment to visit 727 Commercial, as well, and do so with your holiday shopping in mind. We have several artists and craftsmen joining us this month and there should be a little bit of something for everyone on your list. For the book lover, we also have several area authors joining us in December.
So we have two locations in December, as well as a bonus opportunity to shop with market vendors. The Emporia Farmers Market will be participating in Midnight Madness on Thursday, December 10, from 8pm till midnight.
See you at the market!
Tracy Simmons, Market Manager
P.S. If you didn't make it to a November market, here is a peek at what you missed! Due to the cold weather, we won't have quite this much variety in December, but we will have fresh greens and produce at the market!

The Emporia Farmers Market fulfills a central role in the community's grand equation, offering a place of fellowship throughout the year, moving produce, producer, and consumer closer to a kindred realm, bridging lives with local growth, local arts, local writers and musicians, creating rhythms of seasons and relationship so well maintained as to seem always new and continuing together.
