Steps for Employers to Address Workplace Violence

Recent tragedies around the country have focused attention on workplace violence. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, approximately 600 people per year are killed as a result of violence in the workplace. While many workplace violence events cannot be prevented, employers should consider what steps can be taken to minimize the risk of violence. L'Italien Elected President of SOD Center in Salem 
SHAWNA L. L'ITALIEN has been elected president of the Sustainable Opportunity Development Center, a non-profit corporation that partners with local, county, state and federal governments, the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce and local businesses to encourage growth and prosperity for the surrounding communities. It serves as the economic development wing for the City of Salem. Shawna has previously served as vice president and secretary/treasurer of the organization. She was also re-elected as president of the Counseling Center of Columbiana County in Lisbon; this term will mark her fifth year as president. She has also rejoined the board of the Salem Kiwanis after a year off of that panel.

Pogue Named Again to Inside Business Power 100 
Inside Business magazine has again named JOHN L. POGUE to its Northeast Ohio "Power 100," its list of the region's most influential community leaders. Pogue serves on the boards of the Tech Belt Energy Innovation Center and the Youngstown State University Foundation. He is a former YSU trustee and former chairman of the Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber. He has been practicing law for more than 40 years.

Coombs on Panel for Student Loans Seminar
FREDERICK S. COOMBS III will be among the panel members for an April presentation on the treatment of student loans in bankruptcy. The April 8 panel discussion in Hartville is part of the White-Williams Bankruptcy Law Seminar, which is sponsored annually by the Akron and Stark County bar associations. Coombs has spoken on this topic at several seminars in northeastern Ohio in the last several years.
