VIDEO NETWORKS

Small video networks can be simple to deploy and normally easy to manage. However small networks usually grow to become large networks fairly quickly, especially in a Traffic environment, and this growth often can present challenges. It is fairly common for city departments (police, fire, etc.) to take an interest in any camera installation the public works department may choose to install. This may generate a lot of questions including the following:

  • Network capacity, VLANS, Security, etc.

  • Future cameras

  • Camera types & conditions

  • How many cameras can be viewed at once, from how many locations

  • Permission/authority regarding who can view vs. who can control

  • Compression rates, recording, storage

Building out a system requires a managed approach at the network level, as well as the video processing and recording level. Our flagship video partner SALIENT has developed an intuitive product designed to view, record, process, store, and playback high quality video all at a very affordable cost.

We invite you to learn more about SALIENT and their VMS (video management software) Complete View.

At Brown Traffic Products we are well trained and equipped to help your City plan, implement and maintain a video network (simple or complex) that is

easy to use, easy to grow and affordable to operate. Call Todd Downs 563-594-9742 if you would like us to  help your city implement a well designed video system. Trial versions of Salient Complete View are readily available.

Welcome to this week's "Tuesday Traffic Tips."

The American with Disabilities Act (ADA) provides minimum design standards that are to be applied to all public environments, including the public right-of-way. The MUTCD provides guidance and standards for accessible pedestrian signals in 4E.06 and 4E.09. New types of APS are integrated into the pedestrian push button and include speakers and vibrating surfaces incorporated in the pedestrian push button housing.

This weeks Tuesday Traffic tip includes set up and installation  instructions for these push button stations.

In our Tech Corner, you can discover how simple Video Networks are to deploy.

Have a safe Fourth of July Holiday next week! Patriotic

TRAFFIC TIP

It's named EZ Communicator because it is so easy to program. Installation involves installing the EZ Communicator Central Control Unit in the intersection control cabinet and the EZ Communicator Push Button Stations in the field. polaraezcomm

The correct answer to the June 10th Traffic Trivia
