TECH CORNER

After more than 10 years, support for the Siemens ACTRA ended in March of 2014. There will be no more updates released or technical support available for the ACTRA or MARC NX ATMS systems. Additionally it is highly likely that any of the workstations you may have running ACTRA or MARC NX are operating from a Windows XP platform. Microsoft recently announced the "end of life" for this product as well.

Now for the "Good News": There is a logical upgrade path for these systems. Siemens TACTICS is a solid product based in a large part on the ACTRA framework. It offers the industry the latest and greatest features while maintaining the positive aspects of ACTRA. Over the past four years it has proven to be a great system that has been embraced by a large number of industry professionals. With four levels to choose from, TACTICS can be a great addition to any traffic operation.

To learn more about upgrading to TACTICS, click on this link for the TACTICS brochure. Or contact Todd Downs, Brown Traffic's IT Sales Manager for for more information.

Welcome to this week's "Tuesday Traffic Tips." With spring in full swing, we are once again reminded about April showers.  Aside, from May flowers, we also know that spring storms can wreak havoc on traffic systems.

For this week's traffic tip, we will share information about Alpha's battery backup systems and how they can keep our systems running though the worst weather spring has to offer.

Also please visit our new "Tech Corner" section of Tuesday Traffic Tips for valuable information from the IT side of things. This week we will present the features and benefits of the Siemens TACTICS™ software upgrade.

Have a great week!
