The Book of Psalms
Bible Promises
Old Testament
God Promises He Will Peace and Watch Over Us - (Psalm 4:8)

Bible Promise
I will give you a peaceful sleep surrounded by safety.

Bible Verse
There are many who say, "Who will show us any good?" Lord, lift up the light of Your countenance upon us. You have put gladness in my heart, More than in the season that their grain and wine increased. I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.

Reading Notes
Life can be hard, we all know that. We live in a fallen world, which means we live in a world that naturally has chaos, decay, disease and death. In addition, because of sin, which includes our sin and the sins of others, bad things happen. Sometimes things can hit us so hard we're unsure if we can recover. And for those who do not have a relationship with Jesus, this is one of life's moments of deepest despair and abandonment. We can blame God for things brought about by the fallen world we live in, or caused by sin. However, with a life grounded in Christ, even our darkest moments bring us internal peace. And that's what these passages are all about! The indwelling peace and security because of our trust in God. Our trust as children of God, through our faith in Christ Jesus our Lord. A trust that knows in the end, all things find their will in Christ, because we ultimately belong to Jesus, and with Him is where we'll spend eternity.

Dear child of God this is so important for us to remember, our future, our eternity is not with this world, but with Christ Jesus our Lord. Moreover, because of our relationship with God as children of God, we know He will not give us more than we can bear. Even though it will feel like we are overwhelmed, through the help of the Lord because of our reliance on God, we can overcome. Even during moments of our worst pain, attack, loss and yes, even death, we still know where we will spend eternity. We know that once we see Jesus face to face, we will know more, understand more, have more happiness and feel more joy and love than we can ever experience in this world. Therefore, we are secure in the knowledge that even through our worst trials, the Lord is right there with us. And He alone, will give us the strength and love needed to see us through the pain.
