The Book of Psalms
Through the Psalms
Old Testament
Our God is the Author and Owner of All Creation - (Psalm 89:11-12)

Daily Praise
The heavens are Yours, the earth also is Yours; the world and all its fullness, You have founded them. The north and the south, You have created them; Tabor and Hermon rejoice in Your name.

Reading Notes
This section of scripture actually goes from verses five through eighteen as the psalmist is recounting the greatness of our God. We have broken it down in our study to review the attributes of our Lord more clearly. The psalmist reminds us of who God truly is and what He has done for us. This has so much relevance in our day and age, especially in light of secular society. Society today would have us believe that God had no hand in creation. That somehow creation brought itself into existence out of nothing, even though science itself tells us that's impossible. Moreover, because God is the creator of everything, He alone holds ownership. Not man, not people groups and not even nations; but God alone is the owner of the earth.

And when the time comes at the end of this age all of creation will praise His name. And that's what the psalmist has pictured here in these passages. Mount Tabor and Hermon were notable mountains in Israel; they were prominent parts of the landscape. Mount Tabor was located in the Jezreel Valley and Mount Hermon was located in the northern end of the country. Together they made up the two most notable features in the landscape and here they are pictured together with the rest of creation in praising God. In addition, we must also tie this together with the first chapter of John's Gospel which gives us additional detail. John tells us Jesus who is the Word, who was with God, and who is God is the author of creation! Moreover, John also tells us that nothing was made that was not created by Jesus.
