Reading Notes
This song was written by David during a time of joy and God's blessing. Many theologians think this psalm was written when the Ark of the Covenant was brought into the city of Jerusalem. This section of scripture expresses the love and care God has for His people and the majesty He shows to the world through His interactions with mankind. God not only showed His mighty deeds on behalf of His chosen people Israel. God also stepped out of eternity and took on humanity with the incarnation of Jesus Christ. God did this so that He Himself could provide salvation for mankind through His very own sacrifice for us. God did this because mankind was unable to save themselves.

Therefore, these passages are a benediction, a blessing to the Lord for His daily mercies toward us. And for the salvation God alone provides us through Christ Jesus our Lord, who is the promised Messiah spoken of by David and the prophets. Jesus is the true and living God of Heaven who stepped out of eternity and added humanity to His divinity, through the incarnation. He did this in order that He could save those, whom He calls His own! In addition, we must remember at the end of days the Bible tells us the nation of Israel will come to faith in Jesus. Near the end of the Tribulation period, just before His return, the nation of Israel as a whole will come to faith in Jesus. He will save them and they will look upon the one whom they pierced and they will have joy and happiness. This faithful remnant of Israel who come to faith in Jesus are the "natural olive tree" spoken of by the Apostle Paul in chapter eleven of his letter written to the Roman Christians.
