The Book of Psalms
Through the Psalms
Old Testament
We Are God's People and He is Above All Created Things - (Psalm 89:5-7)

Daily Praise
And the heavens will praise Your wonders, O Lord; Your faithfulness also in the assembly of the saints. For who in the heavens can be compared to the Lord? Who among the sons of the mighty can be likened to the Lord? God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be held in reverence by all those around Him.

Reading Notes
The psalmist begins a section of scripture in which he shows the greatness of God. He is praising the Lord, the maker of both the physical and spiritual worlds. The opening passages of this section are speaking of angels and heavenly beings. Though greater than men, they have no comparison to the God who created them. We have to remember angels are created beings, they do not posses the attributes of God. The Holy Angels serve to praise God and carry out His will. They are His messengers and at the direction of God, they can participate in God's plan of redemption by carrying out His will.

The psalmist reminds us there are no heavenly beings who can compare to the greatness of our God! There is no one greater than God and yet He loves us dearly! The word used here for saints means "holy ones" and in the context of this passage it's in reference to angels. The picture here is the angels of heaven are gathered around the throne of our sovereign Lord. And here is the wonder of it all. Our great God who even the angels worship has been faithful to His people and faithful in His love for us His children! Moreover, there is no one like our God! He is the creator of the heavens and earth, He alone is Lord over all things and He alone created the holy ones spoken of here.
