Reading Notes
Moses had just finished addressing the people who were the newly born nation of Israel. Moses had just finished recounting their history and warning the people of the consequences of straying from the Lord. Now Moses was giving the people a blessing from God. Part of that blessing was a reminder to the people of the uniqueness of our God and their covenant relationship with Him. God had worked on behalf of His chosen people Israel. He displayed His mighty power to the surrounding nations and the rest of the world, as He freed the Jewish people from the slavery of Egypt. God's work during the Exodus was to become a reminder of how God had chosen the Jewish people, delivered them from Egypt and gave them the Promised Land. Promising to protect them, as long as they followed the Lord. God had promised His people, if they remained faithful to Him, followed His commandments, keeping their hearts focussed on the Lord, He would watch over His people.

And these promises are still applicable for us today, because through our faith in Christ, we have been adopted into the family of God. As the Apostle Paul tells us, because of our faith in Jesus, we have been grafted into the faithful remnant of Israel. Moreover, the Bible tells us that all of God's promises to His people are complete in Christ Jesus our Lord. Dear child of God, it's so important we never forget because of Jesus, we are grafted into the family of God, which is the faithful remnant of Israel. Jesus is our refuge and in Him we are safe from the enemy, and God has promised us, those nations that bless Israel, He will bless. And those nations who curse Israel, He will curse. Therefore, part of our calling as followers of Christ, is to support and stand by Israel. Throughout the Old Testament all of God's promises have pointed forward to the Messiah who was to come. That Messiah is Christ Jesus our Lord. And today we look back at His completed work on the cross, as we place our faith in Him alone for salvation. And we know we are safe in the outstretched arms of Christ, who is waiting to hold us if we will run to Him. And at the end of this age, we will rule and reign with Him as Jesus Himself restore the nation of Israel to their rightful place as God's people.
