God Promises He Will Train Us for Spiritual Battle - (Psalm 18:34-35)

Bible Promise
I will train you for battle with My shield of salvation.

Bible Verse
He teaches my hands to make war, So that my arms can bend a bow of bronze. You have also given me the shield of Your salvation; Your right hand has held me up, Your gentleness has made me great.

Reading Notes
God not only arms us for battle, He fights for us and He lifts us up, and strengthens us during the fray. And He does so, that we may fight on and complete the task set before us. Our armor begins with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit after we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Then God continues to fit us perfectly for battle through the work of the Holy Spirit in our hearts and in our lives. This process of spiritual growth is called sanctification. Sanctification is the process whereby the Holy Spirit changes our hearts and our minds in order to work out God's will in our day to day lives.

It doesn't stop there either. God, then strengthens us through the study and reading of His word. As we grow in the Lord our hearts are transformed and our minds are made ready and before we know it we are set for battle. Our shield, our armor and all our equipment for battle comes from the Lord, including our inner strength which comes from being in Christ. Dear Christian, never forget, we don't fight in our own ability, we don't win with our own ingenuity or strength! As God's word tells us we do all things through Christ who strengthens us and through the power of the Holy Spirit who indwells us. And as we grow in Christ, we grow in wisdom as we learn the word of God, which teaches us godly wisdom, wisdom that is a gift of our salvation, given from our loving Father in Heaven.
