The Book of Isaiah
Bible Promises
Old Testament
God Promises He Will Guide Us In the Way We Should Go - (Isaiah 30:21)

Bible Promise
I will be the voice behind you, guiding you in the way you should go.

Bible Verse
Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, "This is the way, walk in it," Whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.

Reading Notes
This prophecy was given during a time when the Assyrian army was threatening Judah and King Hezekiah. However, God had promised that He would defend the city and the people. But rather than turn to God the advisors to the king urged him to turn to the Egyptians for help. The Egyptians had already been defeated once before by the Assyrians. These verses show the futility when the children of God, turn to man for solutions rather than the Lord for help. In the end Hezekiah turned toward the Lord and God sent an angel who defeated the Assyrian army. These verses also speak of a future time during Christ's millennial kingdom.

A time when people and teachers will follow the Lord and have their steps guided by God Himself. A time when teachers who are called prophets in these passages will hear and know the direction of the Lord for teaching students. For those of us who have already placed our faith in Christ, we have this promise today. Because of our faith in Jesus, we have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. It's the Holy Spirit who guides our steps and changes our hearts and minds through God's process of spiritual growth called "Sanctification." And when we submit to God's will by faith, we can hear the direction of the Holy Spirit guiding our lives and building us strong in Christ. This process is accelerated when we take the time to read and study God's word.
