The Epistle to the Hebrews
Bible Promises
New Testament
God Promises He Will Forgive Our Transgressions - (Hebrews 8:12)

Bible Promise
I will forgive your sins and then forget them.

Bible Verse
For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.

Reading Notes
What a wonderful promise of the Lord for His children. God tells us in His word that our sins are as far as the east is from the west. They shall never be used to condemn us anymore. Because of the love of Christ for those who are lost, we are free from the penalty of our sins, which is eternal separation from God. Jesus the eternal God of Heaven, stepped out of eternity, and took on humanity because of His love for us. He did this for us, in order that He could pay the price for our sins on the Cross. Moreover, He rose again, thereby proving He is indeed almighty God. His resurrection, not only speaks of His divinity, but also gives us the certainty of the eternity which awaits all those who have placed their faith in Him alone.

Through our faith in Jesus, we are forgiven our sins. And God remembers those sins no more! And in the meantime, while we wait to see Jesus face to face the Holy Spirit continues His work of sanctification on our hearts. Sanctification is God's process of spiritual growth, whereby the Holy Spirit indwells us and changes our hearts and minds as we study God's word. Sanctification is part of the gift of God's grace which comes through faith in Jesus. The Holy Spirit is part of the guarantee of our salvation, which is part of the new covenant of God. And that is what these passages are speaking about. The new covenant whereby through the grace of God, we receive salvation. That covenant is God's grace which means coming to God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Jesus is the new covenant spoken of throughout both the Old and the New Testament.
