The Book of Psalms
Through the Psalms
Old Testament
Because God is Longsuffering We Can Call Out to Him for Help - (Psalm 86:14-15)

Daily Praise
O God, the proud have risen against me, and a mob of violent men have sought my life, and have not set You before them. But You, O Lord, are a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering and abundant in mercy and truth.

Reading Notes
When reading the Bible, we often hear about proud and arrogant men. Pride and arrogance from a Biblical perspective refers to those people who are rebellious, insolent and act independently from God's will and against His precepts. Those who rebel against God and hate God and the people of God. People who have set themselves against God have an unnatural hatred for God, the things of God, and the people of God. An unnatural hatred that is much like a virus which only knows the desire to spread its disease to as many people as possible. It's not enough for insolent people to hate God, but they have to make sure others hate God as well. However, what is equally important is to remember that God has given us all free will.

We have the free will to love or hate God, and because of that free will God allows evil to exist temporarily in order that those who love God can love Him freely and spend eternity with Him. That way when we're in eternity we have the gift of knowing it was a choice made from our free will to love God. God will not force people to love Him, God will not force those who hate Him to spend eternity in His presence. Therefore God is full of compassion, and grace and He is long-suffering and abundant in mercy; so that those who will, can come to Him freely. And because of God's long-suffering, we who are the children of God, can call out to God in times of need for strength and help to deal with the evil of this dark world until our Lord returns.
