Through the Psalms
Old Testament
Because of Jesus We Can Cry Out to God as Father - (Psalm 86:3-5)

Daily Praise
Be merciful to me, O Lord, for I cry to You all day long. Rejoice the soul of Your servant, for to You, O Lord, I lift up my soul. For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, and abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You.

Reading Notes
God has made a new covenant with us through Christ Jesus our Lord! This covenant is a promise of faithfulness, grace, mercy and love. When we place our faith in Jesus, God has promised to be our Father and our God as well as give us so much more! He is our heavenly Father and through our faith in Jesus we become children of God and joint-heirs with Christ, inheriting the kingdom of God. And because of this new status as children of God, we can call out to the Lord and share our lives with Him! God does not want religious acts or prideful works, rather He wants a relationship! More specifically a relationship of love with us, a relationship that comes by faith alone, in Jesus alone. A relationship based on our faith and love for Him. God is looking for a heart committed to Him, by being committed to Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

God wants us to have a relationship with Him, which by His grace is restored through our faith in Jesus. Through Jesus our relationship is restored with a loving God and our souls can rejoice in His daily presence in our lives, through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. And it's because of the joy of that relationship, and the love shown to us, that we carry out acts of love helping others. Acts which are pleasing to God because they were done out of our love for the Lord and for others. Moreover, God is ready to forgive all those who call on the name of Jesus. Those who repent and turn away from their sins and turn to Jesus as their Lord and Savior. God promises He will forgive them and bless them because of His abundant mercy to all those who call upon Christ. Jesus will not only give us eternal life to come, but a life lived more abundantly now through the Holy Spirit who indwells all believers.
