The Book of Psalms
Through the Psalms
Old Testament
All the Attributes of God Come Together in His Perfect Reign - (Psalm 85:10-13)

Daily Praise
Mercy and truth have met together; righteousness and peace have kissed. Truth shall spring out of the earth, and righteousness shall look down from heaven. Yes, the Lord will give what is good; and our land will yield its increase. Righteousness will go before Him, and shall make His footsteps our pathway.

Reading Notes
In these passages the psalmist is looking both to the near future as God in His mercy and grace will bring abundance to the land and return His blessings to His people. And he is also looking further into the distant future of the Messianic reign of Christ Jesus our Lord. In God there is a harmony of His steadfast love and faithfulness which is spoken of here. Which in turn brings blessings to those who place their trust in Him. And because of God's immutability which means His unchanging character, God's people can rest assured that even though trials come, He will work out all things for our good according to His purposes.

Therefore, His people can trust in Him. In addition, these passages speak of the mercy, truth, righteousness, peace, joy and the grace of God, which are all spiritual attributes of God and His future Messianic kingdom. And when Jesus reigns all of these qualities will be bound to each other in perfect harmony in the kingship of our Lord and Savior. This will in turn bring a fertility and abundant productivity to the land that we have not known since the fall of mankind. And because of our love for God and our faith in Christ, we will walk in His footsteps as the Holy Spirit guides us along God's pathway. Bringing us to an ever increasing maturity in Christ Jesus and His word.
