Old Testament
God Promises He Will Bring Us Joy Even Through Sadness - (Psalm 30:5)

Bible Promise
Your sadness may last for a night, but joy will come in the morning.

Bible Verse
For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning.

Reading Notes
This psalm was written by David and there is an inscription associated with it which reads, "A song of dedication of the Temple of God." Even though David did not live to see the Temple built, he prepared what was needed for its construction. The Temple was built by his son Solomon. David acquired and readied everything needed for Solomon to build the Temple. He even wrote the song to sing at its dedication. Praising God was something David did very well, and it was something he did often. This psalm was written shortly after God healed David from a near fatal illness and David is thanking the Lord once again for His graciousness and blessed answer to prayer.

This psalm more than most shows us the heart of a true worshiper of God. David was called by God, "a man after God's own heart." David not only did what he could for the Lord, but also made sure the next generation had what it needed, to worship and learn about God. David had learned firsthand that we are secure in the Lord. Even when God for our own good, lets us suffer the consequences of our own sin, we can still trust in the Lord for our eternity. No matter what happens in this life. A life which we know is just the smallest piece of eternity; our destiny is secure in Christ Jesus our Lord. And therefore no matter what we may endure tonight, tomorrow we will always have the joy of Jesus and our eternity spent with Him.
