Reading Notes
The heart of a man who is following the Lord walks on the paths the Lord has established for him. And he walks in the fear of the Lord. Our relationship with God is determined by our faith in Jesus and who we claim Him to be in our lives, and by our heart for God. As we grow in grace and in the study of God's word we grow in the fear the Lord; however that term has a different meaning for a child of God than it does for someone who does not know the Lord. The phrase, "fear of the Lord" is an idiom which refers to having a heart toward God, a love for following God characterized by a relationship with God through Christ. It means to not only have love for God, but also a deep down joy, awe and respect for God.

And it speaks of a person who has a true love, reverence and respect for God associated with profound admiration and joy for Jesus and what He has done for us! This also includes having an understanding that God is sovereign over all things and in control. Our faith in Christ, not only leads to eternal life, it also leads to a joyful life now. And the closer we walk with the Lord the greater the satisfaction we will have in this life. Moreover, as we grow in Christ, God is faithful to fulfill His calling in our lives. We then bear fruit or good works which are evident of His glory as we help to bring souls to salvation as the Holy Spirit leads us to share the Gospel with others. And as we do so, the Holy Spirit changes their hearts to better understand the grace of God, in order that they too can accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
