The Wicked Foolishly Believe They Can Take Counsel Against God - (Psalm 83:3-5)

Daily Praise
They have taken crafty counsel against Your people, and consulted together against Your sheltered ones. They have said, "Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, that the name of Israel may be remembered no more." For they have consulted together with one consent; they form a confederacy against You.

Reading Notes
The wicked, those who rebel against God; hate His people as much as they hate God. They believe they have power against the Lord, by consolidating their forces against Him. They foolishly believe that by taking counsel together, to draw up plans against God's people they can defeat the Lord. But since they cannot reach God, they instead go after His people. And though they are focused on Israel now, we see today they are also focusing on those who follow Jesus. Those who are grafted into the family of God through faith in Christ. Throughout ancient and modern history the nations surrounding Israel have sought her defeat and God has intervened to give His people victory. Moreover, we know during the end times there will be a point in time when Israel stands alone as her allies abandon her.

It's then the surrounding nations will attack Israel and be destroyed by God. We can see this coming true today in our world as the nation's lineup just as the Bible predicted. Moreover, we see the nations of the west backing away from their longtime ally just as the Bible told us they would. But in the end just before the return of Christ all of God's enemies will be defeated. As followers of Jesus, we can never forget, that Israel and the Jewish people are God's chosen people. And the Lord's admonition regarding the nation of Israel still stands today as it did thousands of years ago, "I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you." Any nation that curses Israel will ultimately face destruction and we see that happening in our world today. We have to understand Satan's ultimate goal is to usurp the things of God and this includes the one place where God has placed His name, Jerusalem. And as the Apostle Paul told us, it's the "prince of the power of the air," who is Satan, who inspires the world against Israel as well as those who follow Christ Jesus our Lord.
