The Book of Psalms
Bible Promises
Old Testament
God Promises He Will Handle Evil, We Should Rest in Him - (Psalm 37:7-9)

Bible Promise
If you rest in Me and wait patiently, you will inherit the land.

Bible Verse
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; Do not fret-it only causes harm. For evildoers shall be cut off; But those who wait on the Lord, They shall inherit the earth.

Reading Notes
As we read these verses we should truly take them to heart! What a blessing and joy we have in the Lord. God wants us to rest in Him. Not to spend our energy and time worrying about the wicked who from all worldly appearances seem to have all the luck. Because God already knows, He already see's the injustice and the wickedness. And though they may seem to prosper it is only for a short time. God is in control and God looks at us with eternity in His heart. In addition God is only allowing sin to flourish temporarily in order to give time for repentance. In other words, God is patient to allow those who will to come to Him by faith and of their own free will. Remember, God has promised us, His justice will prevail and we who are children of God shall inherit eternity with Him.

Therefore, we are to take His promises to heart and not to fret because it only brings harm to us. First, it harms us emotionally because of the worry it causes and secondly it can harm our witness of God and bring harm to ourselves if we seek our own justice. So as the Lord instructed us, we should wait on Him and His timing through the strength of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, our first step under trials is to pray for the Lord to strengthen us and help us to remain steadfast in our faith and trust of God. And to give us wisdom and strength to remain steadfast in the Lord in order that we can build up endurance for the race set before us. And that we do so to the glory of God through Christ Jesus who strengthens us.
