The Gospel of Luke
Bible Promises
New Testament
God Promises He Will Send Us His Holy Spirit - (Luke 11:13)

Bible Promise
I will gladly give the Holy Spirit to those who will ask.

Bible Verse
If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him.

Reading Notes
The Holy Spirit is God and the Holy Spirit is our guarantee of the promise of God that we are His children by faith. And it is through the Holy Spirit that we are equipped for the work of ministry and it's by the Holy Spirit, we produce fruit of the spirit which translates to works pleasing to God. When we accept Jesus by faith, believing He is who He claimed to be God incarnate, then we become children of God and have eternal life. And it is through the Holy Spirit that God gives us every good gift. Moreover, when God gives us gifts, He does so with eternity in mind. His gifts are for our eternal good as well as for our eternal joy as it relates to His purposes for our lives and the eternity that lies ahead for each and every one of us.

After we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, God sends us His Holy Spirit who indwells every believer. The Holy Spirit then begins the work of sanctification in the life of the believer. Sanctification is the process of spiritual growth by which we become more Christ like because He changes us from the inside out, making our hearts more sensitive to the things of God. And it's because of Jesus sacrifice on the cross that we have received the greatest gift God can give us. That is eternal life through faith in the name of Jesus and the fact that we can now come before God as His children. We can do this because Jesus has restored our relationship with God. And it was the Holy Spirit who drew us to Jesus. The Holy Spirit did a work on our hearts in order that we could hear the Gospel message and love Jesus, who first loved us and died for us. It's through the Holy Spirit's work in our hearts that we could come to faith in Christ Jesus our Lord.
