Book of Proverbs
Through the Proverbs
Old Testament
Wisdom comes from the Study of God's Word - (Proverbs 4:5-9)

Daily Wisdom
Get wisdom get understanding do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth. Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; love her, and she will keep you. Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. Exalt her, and she will promote you; she will bring you honor, when you embrace her. She will place on your head an ornament of grace; a crown of glory she will deliver to you.

Reading Notes
Solomon was considered the wisest man who ever lived. His wisdom was given to him as a gift from God as a result of his prayer to the Lord. When Solomon became the king of Israel, he prayed for wisdom to lead God's people. And because Solomon did not ask for wealth or power, God granted his petition. And it was from that wisdom Solomon wrote many of the proverbs listed within the Book of Proverbs. We should never forget God has placed His wisdom and guidance throughout the Bible as writers who were inspired by the Holy Spirit wrote God's words as a message to us and as a revelation of God's plan of redemption for all mankind. God is the creator of all things. He created the heavens, the earth and the universe in which they belong.

There is no wisdom higher than God's wisdom. There is no wisdom or advice of mankind that can surpass God's wisdom as given to us in His word. Moreover, God has recorded wisdom along with His revelation about Himself and about His plan of redemption throughout His word, the Bible. And through the study of the Bible, we can gain wisdom and understanding in order to live a more productive life, and a life pleasing to God. And not only wisdom for our day to day lives; but a wisdom and understanding which leads to salvation and therefore leads to life. Because all of the Bible testifies of Christ Jesus our Lord. The Bible from Old Testament to New Testament shows us God's plan of redemption for mankind, which is only through faith in Jesus Christ and His blood shed for the remission of sins.
