God Promises We Are Cleansed of Sin Through Christ - (1st John 1:7)

Bible Promise
If you walk in the light, the blood of My Son Jesus will cleanse you from all sin.

Bible Verse
But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

Reading Notes
This verse speaks of our walk with Christ in our day to day lives through faith in the blood of Jesus for the remission of sins. In other words, it's speaking about walking in faith alone and not in the works of human effort. As a result of our faith and love for our Lord, we habitually walk in the light. That is to say through the guidance of the Holy Spirit we walk in truth, love and those characteristics which make up the Christian life as we learned from God's Word. Through the power of the Holy Spirit we walk by faith, living a life pleasing to God as He works to change our hearts. This happens because of the power of God in us. With our salvation we are given a new spirit sensitive to the things of God. Our former spirit which was dead in trespasses in sins is replaced by a new spirit sensitive to God and the things of God. In addition, we are indwelt by the Holy Spirit who works with our new spirit, to carry out God's plan of spiritual growth in the lives of all those who follow Christ.

Therefore, as followers of Jesus, we have a new life, because we were re-born out of sin and into God's family through the blood of Christ. Because of our faith in Jesus, we are adopted into the family of God as His children. As a result, our lives should not reflect the sins of the past which were common with us before knowing Jesus. This is because of the work of the Holy Spirit, who changes us from the inside out, and that change is evident in our day to day behavior, because our character is always changing through the work of God in us. We are strengthened as the Lord gives us fellowship with one another through our shared faith. Our walk with the Lord is the evidence of our cleansing from sin, and because of God's work in us. Moreover, this process of spiritual growth called "Sanctification" continues in us, until we see Jesus face to face. From the moment of our salvation, till the time of our glorification, the Lord continually works in us as we grow closer to Him. Jesus is always here waiting to wash away the sins of those who accept Him by faith, as their Lord and Savior.
