God is With Us Through Tribulation - (Proverbs 3:25-26)

Daily Wisdom
Do not be afraid of sudden terror, nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes; for the Lord will be your confidence, and will keep your foot from being caught.

Reading Notes
Jesus told us in this life we will have tribulation and this is so important for us to remember as followers of Christ. We cannot let ourselves be fooled by the world's message that wealth and prosperity are any measure of our faith in God. Moreover, we know that we can suffer pain and loss for many reasons due to the fallen world we live in. This fallen world brings with it disease, death and sin. We can suffer from sin, either our own sin or the sin of others. We can suffer from the spiritual warfare that goes on around us which brings chaos, disappointment and destruction into our lives. And we can suffer from disease and death which is part of the fallen nature of the world and our bodies. However, we can be comforted knowing that God is always with us.

No matter what we face God is there with us, right alongside of us in the person of the Holy Spirit. And that's the message at the heart of these passages. Not that we won't face trials, but that we should not be afraid of trials because God is right there by our side every step of the way. As followers of Jesus, there will never be a trial that we will face alone, without God right there with us. This means, we can cry out to Him for help, for love, for understanding and guidance as we go through trials in our lives. This is what James was referring to in his New Testament epistle, when he said that all followers of Jesus are to remain steadfast through trials, by our faith in Christ Jesus our Lord as we are strengthened by the Holy Spirit who indwells all believers. In addition, God has promised that through the power of the Holy Spirit at work in us and in our lives, He can work all things out for our good as it relates to our spiritual growth and the eternity which awaits us.
