I am good and My mercy is everlasting.

Bible Verse
Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good For His mercy endures forever.

Reading Notes
These passages were part of a song of praise to the Lord after David brought the Ark into Jerusalem and placed it in the Tabernacle. The Ark of the Covenant, which was located in the Tabernacle, is where God met with His people, Israel. And we too give thanks to God because His mercy and His goodness toward us is eternal. Because of what Jesus did for us, God now dwells with us, through the Holy Spirit. Until Jesus returns, the Tabernacle of God is within each and every one of us, through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit for those who have accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Every good thing that we have is from God. He created the universe we live in, He is the Author of creation, He has given us each talents and abilities we can use in His service. In addition He has given us all free will, to choose to love and serve Christ Jesus our Lord. God would not be loving if He did not give us the free will to choose.

Because of our free will, we can choose to love God voluntarily of our own choice, or reject Him completely. We are His creation and He has given us the ability to choose Him, or choose to rebel against Him. Unfortunately, with free will comes the ability to reject God. And by the very definition of free will mankind had to experience the fall because Adam and Eve had the ability to choose God or choose to follow Satan. However, God in His love and mercy for us, has provided a way to reconcile fallen humanity back to Himself. Jesus the eternal God of heaven, stepped out of eternity and took on humanity to take our place at the Cross of Calvary. Because of His love for us, He took on the punishment we deserved. Jesus did this in order to reconcile us, a fallen mankind back to a Holy God! And because God's goodness endures forever, those who accept Jesus will spend eternity with Him. The Bible also calls Jesus, "Immanuel," which means "God with man," why? Because He as the Creator came down to dwell with us and save us from the penalty of sin, which is death. And in its place He has given us eternal life through our faith in Him!
