Power of the Holy Spirit Saves Souls - (1st Corinthians 2:4-5)

Bible Verse
My message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God.

Reading Notes
One of the most important things for us to remember when we spread the Gospel of Christ is what Paul taught and modeled for us. That Jesus is everything, He is our source, He is our reason for hope, and He is the power by which we live an abundant life in God and we are nothing. We are not to puff ourselves up in any way that may cause others to admire us and not Jesus. When we preach God's word, we are not doing so in order to build our own career! We are doing so because of our love for Jesus. Because there is nothing that drives us more to spread the good news of grace, through faith in Christ Jesus our Lord, than our love for Him! This also means we are not to build up ourselves, present ourselves as being something or from pride show others how great we are, in order to preach the love of Jesus.

It's human nature to want to tell others about all the things we accomplished, list our success before we tell them about the Gospel and that's not what Christianity is about. We want others to rely on Jesus and the power of His word, the Bible. We should never make ourselves the toll booth between Jesus and lost souls. Remembering always, we are nothing more than a bond servant of the Lord! And it's the glory of Jesus our master we seek, not our own recognition! For it is the power of Jesus and Him crucified that saves the souls of men and not our words! Therefore, we remember every soul we share with is precious in the sight of the Lord. It's a mystery to the world that God did this for us because He loves us so much. The world does not understand that God Himself, stepped out of eternity, took on humanity and died for us, that we may live for Him. And it's our joy, our privilege to preach Jesus and Him crucified to those who are lost, thereby working with the Holy Spirit to free the souls of men trapped in darkness.
