Book of Numbers
Bible Promises
Old Testament
God Promises His Promises Are Forever - (Numbers 23:19)

Bible Promise
Every promise that I make is true, for I do not lie or change My mind.

Bible Verse
God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?

Reading Notes
One of God's attributes is His immutability, which means God does not change, He is forever the same, yesterday, today and tomorrow. Unlike men who can change their allegiances often, God does not change His! Unlike mankind who often changes their mind and hearts based on their emotions God does not change. He is forever true to His children, and His promises. This means for us that God's word will always come to pass as He says it will. This also means that His promises are forever because only God has perfect truth. When God says He makes a promise or covenant forever, those promises are never revoked, why? Because they rely not on us, and not on our imperfect hearts and minds; but on God, Himself, His immutability and His sovereignty. In addition, we can't talk about God's immutability without talking about God's omniscience. Omniscience means God knows everything. He knows the beginning from the end, there is nothing too difficult for God to understand.

There is nothing hidden from God, not even the thoughts of our hearts, are hidden from the Lord. Dear child of God, we have to also understand that time is part of God's creation and God sits outside of His creation, this means the future is not something unknown to God. God controls time as well as the rise and fall of nations. Therefore God knows what has happened, what is happening now and what will happen in the future. There is nothing mankind can do that will surprise God. There is nothing God wasn't aware of before it happened. This is important for us because with perfect knowledge we can rest assured that God does not make mistakes. God isn't going to make a promise in His word, then revoke that promise later, because of something we think is unexpected. His promises toward us in Christ our forever. Moreover, because of God's sovereignty, there is nothing He cannot do in order to bring about the fulfillment of His promises.
