Sandra Saladrigas strikes the perfect pose.
|
Style mission accomplished: stunning dress, fabulous shoes, perfect hair and make-up, and a swanky backdrop. If your reflection in the mirror is any indication, you are, indeed, the "fairest of them all." You are already fantasizing about the pictures you will be uploading, sharing and tagging at the end of the evening. But most exciting, is the fabulous profile picture you're just hours away from having. To help ensure that all goes according to plan, we consulted former high fashion model and JABBER Sandra Saladrigas for tips on posing for pictures. Having represented designers such as Chanel, Valentino and Calvin Klein for over 25 years, Sandra knows what the camera likes and is sharing these secrets here with her fellow JABBERS.
- Putting a little bit of non-toxic emollient such as petroleum jelly on your gums and teeth serves a dual purpose. It will keep your teeth looking shiny in pictures and also keep your lips from sticking to your teeth when you smile.
- Everyone has a better side. Taking time to practice posing in front of a mirror will help you to learn if you look best when your body is angled to the left or right.
- Posing with your hand on your hip gives you a better silhouette and will make you appear thinner.
- When posing for full length photos, avoid exposing the inside of your thigh. Instead, face forward, turn slightly to left or right and have the outer side of the thigh exposed with your knee towards the middle.
- When posing, look down first and then look up immediately before your picture is taken. This will make for a fresher and happier look on your face.
- Dropping your shoulders, keeping your head up and pushing your chin out when having your photo taken, will stretch your neck and eliminate the appearance of a double chin.
- Leaning your face into your hand when posing for pictures will make your face appear distorted. Instead, if you plan on touching your face, such as leaning on one hand, or framing your face with your hands, the secret is to barely touch your face so that you don't move your facial skin.
- Make sure to touch-up your face with powder throughout the evening. While glowing skin looks great in person, in photos it will make you appear oily.
