Civil Union Personal Account

Congratulations to all the couples who participated in civil union ceremonies/celebrations this past week! My partner, Sue Masterson and I celebrated 21 years together at the stroke of midnight at the Boulder's Clerk and
 Recorders office with hundreds of people gathered to witness and participate in Colorado's new civil union law for same sex couples. We were joined by our two boys ages 13 and 10 and friends and family. What a joyous event it was! Out Boulder
did an amazing job organizing a party; with flowers, food, sparkling cider and music. It was wonderful seeing so many committed couples expressing their love and devotion to each other. We know that this is just a step toward full inclusion and rights that a marriage holds. So for a few days we celebrated but now it's time to get to work and fight for what we all deserve, the right to be married to the one we love!

 On May 9th we invite you to be part of history and participate in the 1st national Give OUT Day.
Give OUT Day is a new national initiative that will engage hundreds of organizations and mobilize thousands of people on a single day across the country to give in support of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender & queer community. It is a chance for LGBTQ groups large and small, to work across the wide range of issues and activities that matter to the LGBTQ community from sports to policy change, families to the arts. It is a chance for members of the LGBTQ community and our many allies to stand up and show our support for our community together on one day. It is a chance to make history, we hope you'll join us!

COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT: LGBTQIA Healthcare Guild

 Healthcare Guild in Colorado, a non-profit grassroots organization that serves as a referral and resource center for LGBTQIA consumers seeking culturally competent healthcare. This is a new national group that will be based out of Colorado and will also have local chapters in Boulder, Denver and other communities. We already have a great contingent of healthcare providers in the area who are leading the organization.  Dancin' Divas is a group of women dance lovers dedicated to providing a FUN dance venue for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered, Undecided (and friends of) community in Boulder, Colorado.
Can't dance? No problem. Dance lessons provided by Susie Pringle, Olivia cruise's very own dance diva! Dance lessons followed by socializing and open dancing. We primarily play modern Country Western two-step and line dance music, mixed with a wide variety of club, oldies, disco, and ballroom. And always smoke free!

 Please join us to celebrate 20 years of PFLAG in Boulder County with food, fellowship, fun with Ash Beckham sharing her "That's So Gay!" 5-minute Ignite Boulder piece that has gone viral on the internet, as well as an inspiring talk by Glenda Russell about historic moments in LGBTQ history, plus our annual Appreciation Awards to outstanding allies in the community. All this and more in the First United Methodist Church parlor. Past recipients since l996 of our Appreciation Awards are invited to return for this celebration. The PFLAG Board will provide table service and main dishes. If you are able, please bring a side dish, salad or dessert.
