ACTS HOSTS ANNUAL SERVICE SURGE IN

6 COMMUNITIES

Over 140 volunteers participated, completing 24 projects

May 16, 2015

Over  140 volunteers gathered together to participate in A Call to Serve Ministries' (ACTS) annual Service Surge in Chariton, Knoxville, Pella, Prairie City, Sully and Teshie, Ghana(Africa) on May 16th. "This year we were pleased for the first time to partner with the communities of Prairie City and Sully", said Joe Vos, ACTS board president. The Service Surge is a once a year event to engage a large number of volunteers in communities to make a big impact for the community and the Kingdom. This is a part of ACTS 9th Service Surge in the last seven years. ACTS Ministries utilizes short-term, local projects to provide opportunities for those interested in serving others through the work of their hands.

The day was blessed with good weather with a few spotty showers allowing volunteers to complete 24 projects in 6 communities. The projects included helping with yard work, painting the exterior of windows, a wheelchair ramp, general construction, waterproofing a deck, and household cleaning. "I am always amazed at the generosity and compassion individuals show; those who raise their hands every year to serve their neighbors during the ACTS Service Surge", said Breanne Patel, ACTS Service Event Coordinator.

A volunteer from the day said, "The Surge is something our family looks forward to every year because it is an opportunity for us to meet real needs in our community with love."

The ACTS Board would like to thank all those who volunteered their skills to serve others whether it was the day of through the work of their hands, or baking, or making lunches, recording the day through photography or praying for all those serving and being served! It was a blessed day!

Oskaloosa Welcomes

Tim Timmons!

Tim Timmons is making his way to the Oskaloosa Square July 11th for a
FREE concert open to the public.

Tim has served as a worship leader for one of California's largest churches, toured with Big Daddy Weave and Mercy Me, and most recently has pursued a solo music career landing his album a stop in the top 20 of the Billboard charts.

Tim's journey to fame has not been easy. Tim was diagnosed with an incurable form of cancer. A decade later, Tim continues to rely on God for hope and will share his testimony as he takes the stage.

This will be a family friendly event for the community. The concert begins at 5pm, with Tim taking the stage at 7:30 pm. There will be other local praise bands performing as well as various food vendors for families to grab dinner from.
