Serving in the communities of

Chariton, Knoxville, Pella, Prairie City and Sully!

The Service Surge is coming to a community near you on May 16th and we need your help.  We have many project options lined up from general construction to family friendly projects, but they will only be completed if we have volunteers like you that will give your time.  The time commitment is minimal.  We just need you one day from 7am-2pm.

Sign up here by community and project!

There are still many places to serve.  We also need people behind-the-scenes to be our photographers, to help provide lunches/snacks, and to work the registration table the morning of the event.  Sign up through the link above if interested!

2Gather Hosts 100-4-100 Event

written by Molly Neil, ACTS Marketing/Communications Intern

Over $10,000 raised to assist local nonprofits working together to do more in the community

An alliance of local non-profit Christian ministries and organizations working to encourage community philanthropy in the region, called 2Gather, came together to host their 3rd annual collaborative fundraising event. The event, called "100 4 100", allowed 100+ community members an opportunity to learn about local causes and give $100 to the non-profit(s) of their choice. This year's "100 4 100" event was held at the Pella Opera House on March 26, 2015.

Over 100 guests attended the event to learn about area opportunities for philanthropy, through each of the eight organizations presentations and display booths. Those represented included A Call To Serve (ACTS) Ministries, Christian Opportunity Center (COC), Habitat for Humanity of Marion County, Main Street Ministries, Many Hands for Haiti, Safe Water International Ministries (SWIM), The Sanctuary, and The Well Resource Center.

SWIM's Vice President Earl Ratcliff stated, "The 100 4 100 event was a great venue to meet some of the wonderful people in various ministries within our community.  Learning the services that each ministry offers increases my ability to serve just by knowing what is available and who has resources to reach a specific need."

Jacob Dreyer of COC also said, "COC is honored to partner with other nonprofit organizations for 2Gather's 100 4 100 event. It's a great opportunity to learn more about all of the things being done in the Pella community and beyond. This year's event was successful because of generous supporters of all area nonprofits."

This year's event featured a performance by the Central College Flying Pans Steel Band, an ensemble directed by Stan Dahl. Guests also enjoyed delicious appetizers and hors d'oeuvres catered by Central College's catering service.

2Gather plans to hold a similar event again next year in the spring of 2016, with hopes of yet again growing in support from members in the local community and expanding in partnership with other non-profit organizations in the area. In the meantime, 2Gather meets monthly to share best practices amongst the member organizations.

As stated earlier, 2Gather is an alliance of local faith-based non-profits working to encourage community philanthropy in the region and support each other through sharing knowledge and best practices. For more information about attending a future event or inquiring about joining the group as an organization, please contact Breanne Patel at bpatel@actsofiowa.org
