November has been a great month, regardless of the weather! We have had five projects this month, but we are always looking for more. Those projects have mainly been assisting with household moves but also raking leaves. We are excited to see what this winter brings for us!

As the holiday season approaches, we hope you will consider supporting us. A couple ways you can do this is by shopping online using www.goodsearch.com or www.amazonsmile.com. Look for A Call to Serve Ministries of Iowa and you can track your impact as you shop. These websites allow you to shop at your favorite sites while also supporting us!

We are counting our blessings and you are one of them!

Thank you for your time volunteering as you serve your neighbors!

Blessings,

Breanne Patel

ACTS Leadership
Comments by Rochelle Veenstra

Rochelle Veenstra
Board Director

For the next few months in this monthly newsletter we will have comments from ACTS' board members. This month Rochelle Veenstra t answered the following questions:What excites you the most about the organization's work? What do you want to accomplish by serving on the board?

Q: What excites you the most about the organization's work?

A: ACTS provides a great opportunity to connect volunteers with those in our own communities who may have limited resources for home projects, moves, yard work, and so much more.  I enjoy knowing the life-long impact that can be made on others, through the caring actions of volunteers.

Q: What do you want to accomplish by serving on the board?

AI hope to engage all ages to serve within their communities.  It's great that our youth and adults experience mission trips away from home.  I think it's equally important for them to know that they can serve year-round in their own communities-a never ending opportunity to volunteer that could lead to lasting relationships.

Q: Any stories or testimonies to share?

A: Over the past eight months, my family has experienced a series of medical issues causing financial hardships.  Through the generosity of family, friends, and people we have never met, we were blessed with many prayers and gifts.  It provided me a humbling, first-hand experience.  This makes me even more motivated to pay it forward.  My hope is that our volunteers continue to embrace the partnership with those facing difficult situations or just needing a helping hand.

Pella Corp Volunteer Recognition Program

Pella Corporation offers a great opportunity for employees to help out their community. The Pella Rolscreen Foundation offers to make a donation to the nonprofit organization of any employee's choice if the employee completes 50 hours of volunteer work within a year. The deadline for this opportunity is November 28th. If you have volunteered with ACTS in the past year and have not received an email regarding your hours with ACTS for the year, email bpatel@actsofiowa.org. If you are a Pella Corporation employee looking for an opportunity in the community we would be happy to get you connected.
