September and October were very busy months! Over the last couple of months we have had 16 projects come our way. That is approximately 2 projects a week! Most of our projects have been assisting people with household moves. A few others have been helping people prepare their homes for the winter.
Below are a few pictures from Service Projects this year! If you have any pictures, please share them with us.
Thank you for your time volunteering as you serve your neighbors!
Blessings,
Breanne Patel

A word from our intern...
 |
Beth Dillon -
Community Outreach & Marketing Intern
|
I volunteered for the first time with a household move last week. I decided to volunteer because I am a college student and I know plenty of people on campus, but was hoping to expand my relationships throughout the community. I worked along side another woman from Pella. Throughout rides back and forth from apartment to the house, we both opened up and got to know each other. At the end of the hour and a half we had worked, I was thankful to have had the opportunity to serve the Lord and our fellow community members.

ACTS Leadership
Comments by Jeff Bruxvoort

Jeff Bruxvoort - Board Director
|
For the next few months in this monthly newsletter we will have comments from ACTS' board members. This month Jeff Bruxvoort answered the following questions:What excites you the most about the organization's work? What do you want to accomplish by serving on the board?
Q: What excites you the most about the organization's work?
A:That we can provide resources to those in need. It's exciting helping out on a project no matter how large or how small it might be. It is also great to see the smiles on faces as they volunteer or to see the relief we are providing to the home owner as we complete it.
Q: What do you want to accomplish by serving on the board?
A:To get more people excited about volunteering. We all have busy schedules but we all have gifts that God has given us so the goal is to match those gifts with an opportunity. There are plenty of opportunities available so getting the word out to check our Facebook page, read the emails and talking to people so they get involved.
Q: Any stories or testimonies to share?
A:I think this was my first ACTS project. We needed to re-roof a house. It was a pretty steep roof and I'll be honest I'm not crazy about heights. We were able to remove the multiple layers of asphalt shingles and then we got to the wood shakes. Some of you maybe know how dusty and dirty it can get after so many years. I was filthy from head to toe and I had so many holes in my pants from catching nails, but I'm pretty sure one of those nails saved me from falling off the roof that day. Good 'ol ring shank nails! It was a great project and it was great to see what we did during those two days and how happy the homeowner was when we were finished.
