Baby, it's WARM inside (The Shops at Worthington Place). So, plan to spend your lunch hour, some afternoon time or a hour after work at tomorrow's health expo presented by the Chamber.
The Chamber and The Shops at Worthington Place invite you to ring in the new year on a healthy note at the second annual "Healthy New Year, Worthington!" event, a public Health & Fitness Expo tomorrow -- Thursday, Jan. 9 -- from noon to 6 p.m. at The Shops at Worthington Place.
Approximately 50 health and fitness-related companies will present exhibits, giveaways, demonstrations and health screenings.
OhioHealth, the presenting event sponsor, will offer pre-scheduled mobile mammography and bone density services and will provide complimentary biometric screenings to monitor several key health indicators.
Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, OSU Wexner Medical Center, and Rite for You Corporate Wellness are corporate sponsors of the event.
There will be door prize drawings for Expo participants who visit a required amount of health exhibits and mall merchants in a "scavenger hunt" fashion.
Women who are interested in the mammograms and bone density tests should preregister with OhioHealth's central scheduling office at 614-566-1111 and offer their health insurance information.

In addition to learning about their health and fitness levels, participants will be invited to sign up for the second annual 10-week community weight-loss challenge, overseen by nutrition experts at Rite for You Corporate Wellness, and to participate in Monday lunchtime mall-walking activities during those 10 weeks (see photo).
Rite for You, which provides weight-loss and fitness services for individuals and corporations, has created a custom website for the weight loss challenge. Participants who register are provided weekly tips on exercise, fitness and diet and may consult confidentially with the firm's dietitians about customized meal plans and strategies.
Registration for the challenge will be available at the Expo and for the following six days via email. The challenge begins Jan. 13. For a $5 donation to one of four local nonprofits (the Chamber, Leadership Worthington, Healthy Worthington Resource Center & Food Pantry, and the Worthington Education Foundation), anyone may participate by entering his or her name and weight. The donations will go to the nonprofit with the team that achieves the highest percentage of weight loss.
The expo is free and open to the public. There is no need to register to attend. For additional information, call the Chamber at 614-888-3040.
